Convex was presented an Environmental Packaging award by the Packaging Council of New Zealand (Inc) at the Auckland Hilton Hotel on Friday 2 September 2011 for the key role Greensack™ wheelie bin liners play in turning food waste into commercial compost.

Made from compostable materials derived from cornstarch – Greensack™ wheelie bin liners have been purpose-designed by Convex to provide an easy way for restaurants, hotels and commercial kitchens to dispose of their organic waste in an environmentally responsible manner.

The Greensack™ liners won the Foodstuffs award for packaging design incorporating sustainability principles. The judges were impressed with how the liners simplify the collection of food waste as a first step towards the goal of achieving waste reduction in this difficult area. They commented, “This entry shows how new advanced technology for biodegradable materials can tackle the problem of food waste.”
